Pakistan Launches New Feeder Shipping Service Linking Karachi with UAE Ports

by Mahnoor Arif

Pakistan has started a new feeder shipping service connecting Karachi Port with major ports in the United Arab Emirates. The move aims to improve maritime trade routes and strengthen Pakistan’s link with international shipping networks.

The new route connects Karachi with Port of Fujairah and Port of Khor Fakkan. Both ports are important regional hubs that handle large volumes of cargo and connect to global container shipping routes.

The initiative was announced by Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry, Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs. According to officials, the feeder service will make it easier for Pakistani exporters and importers to move goods through well connected UAE ports that already serve many international shipping lines.

A feeder service is a smaller shipping route that carries containers between regional ports and larger global hubs. From these hubs, cargo can be transferred to bigger vessels that travel to destinations around the world.

The first vessel operating on this new route has already arrived, marking the start of regular shipping operations. Authorities say the service will help improve supply chain reliability and reduce delays in cargo movement.

Officials believe the new shipping link will increase trade activity, support Pakistan’s export sector, and provide better access to global markets through the advanced logistics infrastructure available in the UAE.
