Sarfaraz Ahmed has officially announced his retirement from international cricket, bringing an end to a long career with the Pakistan national cricket team. The experienced wicketkeeper batter represented Pakistan in all three formats and remained an important figure in the team for many years.

Sarfaraz made his international debut in 2007 and went on to play 54 Test matches, 117 One Day Internationals, and 61 T20 Internationals. During his career, he scored more than 6,000 runs across formats. As a wicketkeeper, he also made a strong impact behind the stumps, completing 315 catches and 56 stumpings.

One of the biggest achievements of his career came in 2017 when he led Pakistan to victory in the ICC Champions Trophy 2017. Pakistan defeated arch rivals India national cricket team in the final at The Oval in London. The historic win remains one of the most memorable moments in Pakistan’s cricket history.

Sarfaraz also captained Pakistan in about 100 international matches across formats. Under his leadership, Pakistan reached the number one position in the T20I team rankings and recorded several successful series victories.

Before his senior career, Sarfaraz also led Pakistan to victory in the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup 2006, highlighting his leadership ability from a young age.

After announcing his retirement, Sarfaraz thanked his teammates, coaches, fans, family, and the Pakistan Cricket Board for supporting him throughout his international journey.
