Govt Announces Eid-ul-Fitr Holidays on March 20 and 21

by Mahnoor Arif

The federal government of Pakistan has announced public holidays for Eid ul Fitr on March 20 and March 21. The decision was approved by Shehbaz Sharif after a notification was issued by the Cabinet Division of Pakistan.

According to the notification, the holidays will apply to government offices that follow both five day and six day working schedules. The announcement allows people across the country to celebrate the religious festival with their families and relatives.

Experts believe that Eid ul Fitr is likely to fall on March 21 this year. If this prediction is correct, Muslims in Pakistan will complete a 30 day fast during the holy month of Ramadan. The final confirmation will come after the moon sighting.

The Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission has also shared its prediction about the Shawwal moon. According to Suparco, the new moon of Shawwal 1447 AH will be born on March 19, 2026. This increases the possibility that Eid will be observed on March 21.

Meanwhile, authorities have started making travel arrangements for the busy holiday period. Special train services have been announced to manage the expected rush of passengers.

One of the additional routes will run between Karachi and Lahore to help travelers reach their hometowns before Eid celebrations begin.
