Over 23,000 Vehicles Blacklisted Under Karachi’s E-Challan System

Traffic authorities in Karachi have blacklisted more than 23,000 vehicles under the city’s e challan system since it was launched in October 2025. The move is part of efforts to improve traffic discipline and ensure that fines are paid on time.

According to officials, over 600,000 electronic tickets have been issued through the Traffic Regulation and Citation System (TRACS). This system uses cameras and digital tools to detect traffic violations such as signal breaking, overspeeding, and lane violations.

Vehicles that repeatedly failed to pay their fines were added to a provincial database, which means they can face restrictions in registration or transfer. Authorities say this step is necessary to enforce traffic laws more strictly.

The Sindh Police has also announced a crackdown on motorcycles without number plates after Eid ul Fitr. Officials believe such vehicles are often involved in violations and accidents, making them a key focus for enforcement.

Meanwhile, the Inspector General of Sindh Police has asked for a detailed report on the recent rise in road accidents, many of which involve heavy vehicles. This has raised concerns about road safety in the city.

Authorities say they are working on better traffic management and stricter enforcement to reduce accidents and improve safety for all road users in Karachi.
