Russia Offers Discounted Oil to Pakistan

by Mahnoor Arif

Russia has offered to supply discounted oil to Pakistan, as the country faces rising fuel prices and supply issues. Russia’s envoy to Pakistan, Albert Khorev, said that Moscow is ready to move forward with the deal but is waiting for a formal request from Islamabad.

Pakistan is currently dealing with higher fuel costs due to global supply disruptions. These problems are linked to tensions in the Middle East and limits on key shipping routes like the Strait of Hormuz, which is important for oil transport. As a result, petrol and diesel prices have increased, putting more pressure on the economy and daily life.

Russia has been trying to expand its energy ties with Pakistan in recent years. It has already supplied crude oil to Pakistan at discounted rates in the past, helping the country manage its import costs. Officials believe that another deal could provide relief if agreed on time.

Experts say Pakistan needs to act quickly if it wants to benefit from this offer. A formal request and clear payment plan will be needed before any shipments can begin. There are also challenges, such as refining Russian crude and handling transport costs.

Still, energy cooperation between both countries remains an important area. If talks move forward, discounted oil from Russia could help Pakistan reduce fuel costs and manage its energy needs more effectively.
