No Testimony Received About Moon Sighting, Chances of Moon Being Sighted Low in Pakistan

by Mahnoor Arif

Pakistan is waiting for the final announcement of Eid ul-Fitr as the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee meets to sight the Shawwal moon. The meeting is being held in Islamabad under the leadership of Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad, along with religious scholars, meteorologists, and other officials.

Zonal committees in different cities are also working to collect reports from across the country. These reports include eyewitness accounts of moon sighting, which are then reviewed before making a final decision. So far, no confirmed testimony has been received, making the chances of moon sighting quite low.

Experts say that based on scientific data, the Shawwal moon is unlikely to be visible. This means the holy month of Ramadan is expected to last 30 days in Pakistan. However, the final decision will only be made after all evidence is carefully reviewed by the committee.

Meanwhile, countries like Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Qatar have already announced Eid, while Afghanistan has started celebrations after confirming moon sighting.

Citizens are waiting with excitement as the committee prepares to make the final call based on both religious guidelines and scientific input.
