Iran Miss!le Targets Amazon Cloud Facility in Bahrain

by Mahnoor Arif

An Iranian missile strike damaged Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud computing facility in Bahrain on April 1, 2026. The attack caused a fire at the site, according to reports by the Financial Times and confirmed by Bahrain’s Interior Ministry.

Bahrain’s civil defence teams quickly responded and brought the fire under control. Authorities described the incident as an “Iranian aggression” but did not give full details on the extent of damage or name the company. No casualties were reported.

The strike hit a facility linked to Amazon’s cloud operations, which is hosted at Bahrain Telecommunications Company (Batelco) headquarters in Hamala. This marks the latest in a series of attacks on AWS infrastructure in the Gulf region. Earlier strikes in March had already disrupted services in Bahrain and the UAE.

The attack came just one day after Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps threatened to target major US technology companies operating in the Middle East. Iran claims these companies support US and Israeli military activities.

Amazon Web Services has not made any official comment on the latest incident. Last week, the company reported disruptions in its Bahrain region due to the ongoing conflict.

Experts worry that the war is now targeting critical digital infrastructure. Cloud services power banks, businesses, apps, and even some government operations across the region. Damage to these facilities can cause widespread service outages and raise concerns about data security and internet stability.

This incident highlights the growing risk to technology and economic assets in the Gulf as the conflict between Iran and the US-Israel alliance continues to escalate.
