T
he Punjab School Education Department has implemented a strict prohibition on social media use by school administrators and teachers. A notification has been dispatched to education authorities, directing them to ensure adherence to this new policy, which is in response to orders from the provincial government.
The department has stated that any breach of the Punjab Government Rules of 1966 will lead to severe consequences for those involved. It is noteworthy that provincial authorities nationwide have begun to take stringent measures against officials’ use of social media, particularly among police personnel.
Earlier today, a new social media policy was approved for police officials in Islamabad, following directives from the Establishment Division. This policy forbids officers from sharing personal opinions, posting articles, or engaging in public communication without prior official consent. Officers are also banned from posting videos or photographs while in uniform, inside government vehicles, or within offices for personal promotion. Additionally, they are prohibited from sharing any sensitive or official information online.
