The New Gwadar International Airport is scheduled to open on December 30, 2024, following a directive from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. This much-anticipated development marks a significant step forward in improving regional connectivity and enhancing Pakistan’s trade and tourism potential.
Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) is set to operate the first commercial flight from the airport, highlighting its importance in connecting Gwadar to major domestic and international destinations. The facility features a modern terminal and a large runway capable of accommodating wide-body aircraft, ensuring that it meets international standards. In a supportive move, the airport will waive fees for PIA during its first year of operations.
