Islamabad Police Launches Fast-Track Driving License Seekers Against Fee for Rs. 2,000

by Hameed

Islamabad Traffic Police have introduced a fast-track service for driving license applicants, offering license issuance within one hour for an additional fee of Rs. 2,000. This new facility aims to ease the process for citizens who need their licenses urgently due to job or travel requirements.

The service is currently available at selected licensing centers and is designed to reduce long queues and processing delays. Officials believe this step will modernize public service delivery and improve the overall experience for applicants.

However, the move has drawn mixed reactions. While some people appreciate the quicker service, others worry it may lead to inequality. Critics argue that those who cannot afford the extra fee may face longer delays, promoting a system where money influences access to basic services.

Earlier this year, the Islamabad Traffic Police also revised their fee structure, increasing license costs by up to 33%. Additional charges now apply for road tests, medical reports, and even verification services such as character certificates and vehicle checks.

In response to growing complaints about mismanagement and irregular fee collections, IGP has taken full control of all financial transactions related to these services. This measure is intended to ensure transparency and prevent misuse of public funds.

The Islamabad Traffic Police continue to emphasize that the fast-track service is optional and designed only for those who require urgent processing.
