ONLY 35 BOOKS SOLD AT BOOK FAIR IN LAHORE WHILE UPTO 1,200 SHAWARMAS AND 800 BIRYANIS STEAL THE SPOTLIGHT, KHALID INAM

At a recent book fair in Lahore, food became the main attraction instead of books. Surprisingly, while just 35 books were sold, the crowd enjoyed a huge amount of food, consuming 1,200 shawarmas and 800 biryanis.

The fair, which was originally meant to promote reading and culture, ended up showcasing the community’s love for delicious food.

Although the goal was to inspire more people to buy and read books, the event became more of a food festival. Visitors seemed more interested in the food stalls than in the books, turning the focus away from literature.

This unexpected shift highlighted how food can sometimes steal the show, even at events aimed at promoting other activities like reading.

The book fair’s organizers had hoped to attract a large crowd of book lovers, but it seems that attendees were more tempted by the aroma of shawarmas and biryani.

While the fair may not have achieved its primary goal, it still managed to draw in a crowd and provide an enjoyable experience. The event has become a reminder that in Lahore, food is often just as much a part of the culture as books and reading.
