Pakistan has seen a significant increase in rice exports, earning over $721.8 million in foreign exchange during the first quarter of the current fiscal year. According to official reports, this represents a remarkable rise of 77.63% compared to the same time last year. From July to September, the country exported 991,000 metric tons of rice, which is up from 596,000 tons in the previous year. This increase is a major boost to the economy.
In September alone, Pakistan exported 374,000 metric tons of rice, bringing in $257.2 million. This is a 49.19% increase compared to September of the previous year when 255,000 metric tons were exported for $172.4 million. This impressive growth highlights how Pakistan is becoming stronger in the international rice market.
The rise in rice exports can be attributed to various factors, including improved farming techniques, better quality of rice, and expanding market access. As more countries seek to import rice, Pakistan is well-positioned to meet the demand, contributing positively to the national economy.
The government and farmers alike are optimistic about maintaining this upward trend in exports, which not only helps the agricultural sector but also supports local communities reliant on rice farming. Overall, this surge in rice exports reflects Pakistan’s potential as a key player in the global rice market.
