Pakistan has officially started crocodile farming in Jacobabad, aiming to support the leather industry and attract tourists. This new project is located at Bhambhore Farmhouse and marks an important step in expanding the country’s agriculture and business opportunities.
The farm is privately owned by a local entrepreneur and currently has ten crocodiles that were brought from other countries. As the project moves forward, the number of crocodiles is expected to grow, especially once breeding begins. Crocodiles take about five years to fully mature and can grow as long as 21 feet, weighing close to a ton. Their skin is highly valued in the luxury leather market, making this a profitable industry for Pakistan.
If the farm proves successful, it could encourage similar businesses to open across the country. This would not only help Pakistan explore new industries but also promote sustainable farming methods. Additionally, the farm could attract visitors to Jacobabad, boosting tourism in the region.
