PAKISTAN-US TRADE HITS $6.3 BILLION IN 10 MONTHS

Pakistan’s Ambassador to the US, Rizwan Saeed Sheikh, highlighted the strong relationship between Pakistan and the United States, strengthened by the presence of one million Pakistani-Americans.

He pointed out that Pakistan is the largest importer of American cotton in the world. He also shared plans to send 5,000 Pakistani nurses to work in the US, with pharmacists to follow soon. Additionally, he mentioned that 40,000 Pakistani doctors are already contributing to the healthcare sector in the United States.

The ambassador emphasized the importance of economic diplomacy in expanding trade and investment ties between the two countries. He highlighted the significant opportunities available in states like California and Texas, which Pakistani businesses could explore.

The president of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) encouraged exporters to prepare for future opportunities. He mentioned the possibility of the US renewing its Generalized System of Preferences (GSP) program, which could provide additional trade benefits to Pakistan.

These efforts aim to strengthen economic and professional ties between Pakistan and the US while opening new pathways for Pakistani professionals and businesses in the American market.
