The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is planning to take over the management of Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad with the aim of upgrading it to meet international standards. This was a key focus of discussions during the PCB’s 74th Board of Governors meeting.

If the upgrades proceed, the stadium could once again host international cricket matches, marking a return of international series to Faisalabad after a long hiatus. The meeting also included a review of the ongoing Champions One-Day Cup, which recently began at Iqbal Stadium.

PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi was acknowledged for his efforts in securing important partnerships for the tournament. The Champions One-Day Cup features some of Pakistan’s top cricketers and is seen as a crucial step towards improving domestic cricket.

The board also discussed various infrastructure projects needed to prepare for the ICC Champions Trophy, which Pakistan will host next year. These upgrades are part of the PCB’s larger plan to ensure the country is ready for major international cricket events.

Chairman Naqvi extended his best wishes to all the teams in the Champions One-Day Cup, emphasizing the tournament’s role in strengthening Pakistan’s domestic cricket structure. He also hinted at the possibility of expanding similar tournaments to other cities, allowing cricket fans across the country to enjoy high-quality matches.
