Punjab Launches Free Organ Transplant Program for Underprivileged Patients

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has introduced the Chief Minister Transplant Program, a historic initiative that provides free organ transplants for poor and underprivileged patients across the province. This is the first program of its kind in Pakistan, aiming to ensure that financial constraints do not prevent people from receiving life-saving medical procedures.

The program covers a variety of transplants, including liver, kidney, bone marrow, and cornea transplants. Additionally, it provides cochlear implants for children suffering from hearing loss, giving them the chance to hear and communicate better.

The Punjab government is fully funding this initiative, making these expensive medical procedures available at no cost to eligible patients. Both public and private hospitals will offer transplant services under this program, ensuring that more people can access high-quality treatment.

To help patients learn about the program and receive guidance on how to apply, the government has also launched a toll-free helpline (0900-90800). Patients and their families can call this number for information on eligibility, required documents, and hospital locations.

This initiative marks a significant step forward in improving healthcare services in Punjab, offering hope and a second chance at life to many people who previously could not afford such treatments.
