Pakistan is set to host a big international women’s tennis event for the first time. The Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) announced that the country will organise the Billie Jean King Cup Group III Asian Qualifying round in October 2026. This is a major milestone for tennis in Pakistan.

Around 10 Asian nations are expected to take part in the competition. The Billie Jean King Cup, formerly known as the Fed Cup, is the world’s top team competition for women’s tennis. Hosting this event will give Pakistani players valuable experience against strong regional teams.

PTF President Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi, a former top doubles player, said the event will help improve Pakistan’s global image. “Tennis is helping build Pakistan’s soft image, and hosting a women’s team event in October is a significant milestone,” he said. He noted that recent ITF tournaments hosted in Pakistan have shown good progress. Pakistani players have won several of these events, which is a big achievement.

Qureshi also highlighted that nine Pakistani players have now earned ATP rankings for the first time. This shows the rising standard of tennis in the country. Young talents like Mohammad Shoaib, Muzammil Murtaza, and Abid Ali are making their mark in international futures events.

This step is very important for women’s sports in Pakistan. It will encourage more girls to take up tennis and provide better opportunities for players. Hosting such events also helps develop local talent and brings international attention to the country.
