Punjab Sports Minister Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar has announced major plans to upgrade sports facilities across Rawalpindi Division. During his visit to the Tehsil Sports Complex, Dhobi Ghat, in Murree on Sunday, May 31, 2026, he directed officials to prepare comprehensive proposals to improve fee structures and address staff shortages at all sports complexes in every tehsil.
The Minister reviewed the available facilities, administrative system, and current infrastructure at the Murree complex. Officials briefed him about ongoing sports activities, daily needs, and existing problems. He inspected different sections of the complex and ordered immediate repairs and improvements.
Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar stressed the need to bring all sports complexes up to international standards. He directed the addition of new facilities such as spectator shades, practice cricket pitches, and proper GI fencing, and the repair of damaged equipment, such as basketball rings. He also ordered the immediate appointment of a Tehsil Sports Officer and asked officials to make these complexes self-sustaining.
This initiative is part of the Punjab government’s broader efforts under Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif to promote sports and provide better opportunities for youth. Good sports infrastructure can help develop talent, encourage healthy activities, and keep young people away from negative habits.
The Minister’s directives are expected to bring positive changes. Once implemented, these upgraded sports complexes will benefit thousands of players and sports lovers in the Rawalpindi Division.
