Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has launched the Zero Fee Nawaz Sharif Center for Eminence program, aiming to provide talented students with access to world-class higher education without the burden of tuition fees. The initiative is being introduced across Punjab to support deserving students and promote academic excellence through merit-based opportunities.
Under the new program, students admitted to selected Centers for Eminence will receive a complete waiver of tuition fees, ensuring that financial constraints do not prevent capable individuals from pursuing quality education. The government believes this initiative will encourage bright minds to continue their studies and contribute to the country’s future development.
Speaking at the launch ceremony, Maryam Nawaz emphasized that education is the strongest investment in Pakistan’s future and that every talented student deserves equal opportunities regardless of their financial background. She said the Punjab government is committed to creating an education system that rewards merit while removing barriers faced by low-income families.
The Centers for Eminence will focus on advanced education, research, innovation, and professional development in various academic disciplines. Students enrolled in these institutions are expected to benefit from modern facilities, experienced faculty members, and industry-oriented learning environments that prepare them for competitive careers.
The chief minister stated that the initiative reflects the vision of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, who has consistently emphasized the importance of education, youth empowerment, and human resource development. She added that investing in students today will strengthen Pakistan’s economy and improve its global competitiveness in the years ahead.
Officials believe the Zero Fee Nawaz Sharif Center for Eminence will help produce highly skilled graduates capable of leading innovation in science, technology, healthcare, engineering, and other critical sectors. The Punjab government also indicated that more educational reforms and scholarship programs are being planned to expand access to quality education throughout the province.
The launch marks another major step in Punjab’s ongoing efforts to improve higher education and ensure that talented students can achieve their academic goals without financial obstacles.
