The Islamabad administration has given good news to traders and shopkeepers by temporarily relaxing the early market closure timings. Businesses including shops, shopping malls, restaurants, grocery stores, bakeries, and general stores can now operate without any time restrictions until May 31, 2026.
The District Magistrate’s office issued an official notification in this regard after receiving directions from the Cabinet Division. This decision is expected to provide much-needed relief to the business community and boost commercial activity in the capital during the hot summer days and Eid preparations.
However, the relaxation does not apply to all sectors. Marriage halls, marquees, and event venues will still have to close by 10:00 PM as per the previous schedule.
The updated orders have been shared with Islamabad Police, Capital Development Authority (CDA), Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA), and Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) for proper implementation and public awareness.
Traders and shopkeepers are happy with this news, saying longer operating hours will help them recover losses and serve customers better, especially during the busy Eid-ul-Adha season. Many citizens also appreciated the decision as it offers them more flexibility for evening shopping.
This temporary relaxation is expected to remain in effect until the end of May, after which the administration will review the situation again.
