Not A Single Airline In Pakistan Meets 2026 On-Time Target

by urooj Fatima

Not a single airline operating in Pakistan has met the country’s mandatory on-time departure target in 2026, according to a two-year performance report on the aviation sector.

The report found that only 67.5% of flights departed on schedule in 2026, down from 68.4% in 2025. This was also below the 80% on-time departure requirement set under Pakistan’s aviation regulations.

The figures highlight continuing challenges with flight delays across Pakistan’s aviation industry. The report also showed that on-time performance had been higher in 2024, when around 72.6% of flights operated by five airlines departed according to schedule.

Pakistan’s aviation authorities have taken action against airlines that fail to meet required performance standards. Airlines can receive show-cause notices and face financial penalties for delays and cancellations, with fines of up to Rs1 million for violations.

The Civil Aviation Authority has also introduced a system under which penalties for non-compliance can be deducted directly from funds deposited by airlines.

The latest figures underline the difficulties airlines face in maintaining punctual operations, while passengers continue to experience delays and schedule disruptions.

Authorities are expected to monitor airline performance and compliance with the required standards as efforts continue to improve the reliability of air travel in Pakistan.
