The Pakistan Super League (PSL) has officially expanded with the sale of its seventh franchise, marking a major step forward for the country’s premier T20 tournament. The new team has been sold to FKS Group for Rs 175 crore, making it one of the most talked-about developments ahead of the upcoming PSL seasons.

According to officials, the sale reflects the growing commercial value of the PSL and the strong interest from local business groups. FKS Group, a well-known Pakistani conglomerate, secured the franchise after a competitive bidding process. The deal gives the group ownership rights for a set period under the Pakistan Cricket Board’s franchise model.

PCB officials said the addition of a seventh team will increase competition and give more domestic players a chance to perform on a big stage. It is also expected to attract new sponsors, boost broadcast value, and expand the league’s fan base across more regions of the country.

Sources suggest the new franchise may be based in a previously unrepresented city, which could help promote cricket at the grassroots level. Final details regarding the team’s name, logo, home city, and management are expected to be announced soon.

The PSL began in 2016 with five teams and expanded to six in 2018. Since then, it has grown into one of the most popular T20 leagues in the world. With this latest expansion, the PCB aims further to strengthen the league’s brand and financial stability.

Cricket fans have welcomed the news, seeing it as a positive sign for Pakistan cricket and the PSL’s future growth.
