Ronaldo Becomes First Footballer to Score in Six World Cups After Historic Goal vs Uzbekistan

by Mahnoor Arif

Cristiano Ronaldo has made football history. The Portugal captain became the first player ever to score in six different FIFA World Cups. He achieved this milestone on June 23, 2026, during Portugal’s Group K match against Uzbekistan at NRG Stadium in Houston.

At 41 years old, Ronaldo opened the scoring in just the sixth minute. João Cancelo delivered a cross, and Ronaldo fired a right-footed shot into the net. He later added a second goal in the 39th minute from a pass by Bruno Fernandes. Portugal went on to thrash Uzbekistan 5-0, with other goals from Nuno Mendes, an own goal, and Rafael Leão.

This remarkable feat started with Ronaldo’s first World Cup goal in 2006 in Germany. He has now scored in every World Cup since then — 2006, 2010, 2014, 2018, 2022, and 2026. His latest goals took his World Cup tally to 10 and his international goals for Portugal to 145.

Despite doubts about his age, Ronaldo showed he is still a top performer. Playing for Saudi club Al Nassr, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner continues to inspire fans worldwide. His dedication, fitness, and hunger for records make him one of the greatest players in football history.

This achievement adds another chapter to Ronaldo’s legendary career. Portugal’s strong win boosts their campaign in the 2026 World Cup.
