Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar suffered a hairline fracture in his shoulder after slipping and falling while welcoming Egypt’s Foreign Minister in Islamabad on Sunday.
The incident happened during the official reception for Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. A video of the moment Dar lost balance on the red carpet went viral on social media. He was quickly helped up by officials and continued with the important diplomatic meetings.
Later that evening, his son Ali Dar confirmed the injury on social media. He said X-rays showed a minor hairline fracture in the shoulder, but overall the results were satisfactory. Ali Dar added that despite the pain, his father completed all scheduled high-level meetings with the help of painkillers and performed his duties efficiently.
Doctors have advised managing the pain with medication and taking precautionary measures in the coming days. Ishaq Dar is expected to continue his official responsibilities without major disruption.
The fall occurred while Pakistan was hosting important talks with Egypt and other regional partners regarding the current Middle East situation. Many people praised Dar for showing dedication by not letting the injury stop his work.
