Chinese Satellite Internet Achieves Speeds 5 Times Faster Than Elon Musk’s Starlink

by Hameed

China has made a big breakthrough in satellite internet technology by reaching speeds of up to 1 Gbps which is five times faster than Elon Musk’s Starlink service. This major achievement was made using a 2-watt laser beam sent from a satellite located 36,000 kilometers above the Earth. In comparison, Starlink uses satellites in low Earth orbit, which are much closer to the planet.

One of the biggest challenges in using lasers for internet signals is atmospheric turbulence, which can distort the laser beam as it travels through the Earth’s atmosphere. To solve this, a team of Chinese scientists led by Professor Wu Jian and Dr. Liu Chao developed a new technique called AO-MDR, or Adaptive Optics Mode Division Receiver.

This system works by reshaping the distorted laser beams using 357 tiny mirrors. These mirrors adjust in real time to correct the light path and improve the signal. The setup also includes a multi-plane light converter and a smart algorithm that selects the best signal path instantly.

Thanks to these advanced technologies, China has managed to send strong and stable laser signals from space to Earth with high accuracy and speed. Experts say this technology could change the future of internet connectivity, making fast internet available even in remote or hard-to-reach places.

This success puts China ahead in the race for next-generation satellite internet and proves its growing strength in space and communication technologies. The innovation may soon lead to even faster and more reliable global internet options.
