Heavy Rains Expected from Tomorrow, Urban Flooding Alert Issued

by Hameed

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a fresh weather alert, saying that upper and central parts of Pakistan will see more rain, winds, and thunderstorms in the coming days.

People have been warned about possible urban flooding as heavy rain could cause water to gather in cities and low-lying areas. Authorities have been told to get ready and take safety measures in advance.

According to the PMD, from August 4 to August 7, heavy rainfall is expected in Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad, and parts of Punjab. A westerly weather system will make the rain stronger on August 5, bringing chances of very heavy showers in some places. This could lead to flooding in areas that are easily affected by heavy rain.

Meanwhile, Balochistan will mostly stay hot and humid during this time, but some areas in the northeast and south may get rain on August 6. Sindh is also likely to see some rainfall, mainly in the lower parts of the province, though most of the region will continue to have warm and sticky weather.

The PMD has asked people, especially those living in flood-risk zones, to stay careful and follow any advice from local authorities. They have also suggested that city officials should make sure drainage systems are clear to prevent water from building up.

Emergency teams have been advised to stay ready to handle any problems caused by the expected bad weather this week.
