Bahria Town Lahore Faces Power Cut Over Rs682 Million Unpaid Dues

by Mahnoor Arif

Bahria Town Lahore is facing a major power crisis after electricity to four of its housing projects was disconnected due to unpaid bills worth more than Rs682 million. According to Lahore Electric Supply Company (Lesco), the outstanding amount has been pending for a long time, and repeated reminders brought no result.

The sudden power cut has caused serious inconvenience for residents. Many families reported that they had no warning before the electricity was switched off, making it difficult for them to manage daily routines. This has led to growing frustration among the community.

Residents have now announced that they will hold a peaceful protest in front of the Bahria Town offices after Friday prayers. They say the management must take responsibility and resolve the issue quickly so that electricity can be restored without further delays.

Lesco CEO Muhammad Ramzan Butt confirmed the disconnection and stated that power will only be restored once Bahria Town clears the full amount. He added that no housing society, no matter how large, is exempt from paying electricity bills.

The situation has highlighted concerns about the management of private housing projects and the need for better communication with residents. Many people living in Bahria Town feel they are paying heavy maintenance charges but still facing basic service issues.

As the standoff continues, residents are hoping that Bahria Town management will settle the dues immediately so normal life can return. For now, the affected areas remain without electricity, creating uncertainty for hundreds of households.
