“I Believe this Universe Came from Something. God is the Creator.”, Elon Musk

by Mahnoor Arif

Elon Musk has surprised many by talking about his beliefs about God and the universe. The tech billionaire, best known for Tesla and SpaceX, said in a recent podcast that he now believes the universe did not come from nothing and that there was a creator behind it.

For years, Musk described himself as someone who did not believe in a traditional God. In recent interviews and posts, he even joked about going to hell and said he was not especially religious. In a 2022 talk, he connected with some Christian ideas without saying he followed a religion.

On “The Katie Miller Podcast,” he was asked who he looks up to most. Musk replied, “The creator,” and then said, “I believe this universe came from something. People have different labels.” He also said, “God is the creator,” though he did not join any specific religion.

Musk also talked about big ideas like simulation theory, evolution, and why humans are here. His comments show he is thinking about more than business and technology. They reflect a philosophical change from his earlier, more atheist‑leaning views to a more open view of a higher cause behind existence.

Some people welcomed his shift, while others said it was unclear what Musk really believes. What is clear is that his change has sparked talk around the world about science, faith, and the meaning of life.
