President Asif Ali Zardari has reaffirmed Pakistan’s strong commitment to protecting its sovereignty, warning that any hostile move against the country would face a firm response. He made these remarks while addressing a large public gathering at the memorial of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto in Garhi Khuda Bakhsh.
In his speech, President Zardari said that Pakistan has the strength and capability to defend itself against any external threat. Referring to the tensions in May, he stated that Pakistan chose restraint despite having the ability to cause greater damage. He described this approach as a sign of responsible leadership and a desire for regional stability rather than conflict.
The president praised the country’s military leadership and said Pakistan’s defence forces remain fully prepared to respond to any challenge. He stressed that national unity and collective resolve are the country’s greatest strengths. His statement, “Kisi ne Pakistan ki taraf maili aankh se dekha to yaad rakhe yaha Zardari baitha hua hai,” was received with strong public support, reflecting confidence in state leadership.
President Zardari also acknowledged past diplomatic and economic weaknesses, saying they had affected Pakistan’s global image. However, he emphasized that serious efforts are underway to improve foreign relations and rebuild international trust. He said Pakistan is working to strengthen its role on the global stage through diplomacy, economic reforms, and strategic partnerships.
The address highlighted a message of strength, caution, and responsibility. President Zardari concluded by stressing that Pakistan seeks peace, but will never compromise on its independence, security, or national dignity.
