Pakistan has officially announced its Hajj quota for the year 2026, setting the total number of pilgrims at 179,210, according to Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Sardar Muhammad Yousaf. The announcement brings early clarity for thousands of Pakistanis who are planning to perform Hajj next year.
Out of the total quota, around 120,000 pilgrims will perform Hajj under the government Hajj scheme. This scheme is usually preferred by many pilgrims due to its structured process, regulated costs, and official support. Meanwhile, nearly 60,000 pilgrims will travel through private Hajj tour operators, offering alternative packages and travel arrangements.
The minister also shared that approximately 38,000 pilgrims will depart from Islamabad under the Road to Makkah project. This initiative is designed to make the journey easier by completing immigration procedures in Pakistan before departure. As a result, pilgrims can avoid long waiting times at Saudi airports and experience a smoother arrival process in Saudi Arabia.
The early announcement of the Hajj quota is expected to help both pilgrims and tour operators begin preparations in a timely manner. It allows authorities to plan logistics, accommodations, and travel arrangements well in advance, ensuring a more organized and comfortable experience for pilgrims.
Officials have advised intending pilgrims to stay informed through official government sources for updates related to registration, costs, and schedules as Hajj 2026 preparations continue.
