Pakistan to Offer 500 Scholarships to Bangladeshi Students for Higher Education

by Mahnoor Arif

Pakistan’s Higher Education Commission has announced 500 scholarships for students from Bangladesh under the Allama Muhammad Iqbal Scholarship Programme. The initiative aims to expand academic cooperation and strengthen ties between the two countries through higher education.

According to officials, 73 Bangladeshi students have already arrived in Pakistan and begun their studies at various public-sector universities. The scholarship covers tuition and provides access to academic facilities, allowing selected students to pursue undergraduate and postgraduate degrees without financial burden.

HEC Chairman Dr. Niaz Ahmed said the programme is designed to build stronger people to people connections. He noted that education plays a key role in improving regional cooperation and mutual understanding. By welcoming Bangladeshi students, Pakistan hopes to create opportunities for joint research, cultural exchange, and long term collaboration.

The scholarship also focuses on skill development and youth empowerment. Students will be able to study in various fields, including science, engineering, social sciences, and management. Universities will offer academic supervision and support services to help international students adjust to campus life.

Education experts believe such initiatives can improve academic diplomacy and encourage shared research projects between institutions of both countries. As more students join the programme, it is expected to deepen academic partnerships and create lasting educational links between Pakistan and Bangladesh.
