The Government of Punjab has ordered the immediate closure of all schools, colleges, and universities across the province starting tomorrow, March 10, 2026. The decision will remain in effect until March 31, 2026. This step was announced after meetings with education officials and health experts to review the current situation.
The closure applies to both public and private educational institutions. All classes, exams, and extracurricular activities have been suspended. The main reason is to protect students and teachers from rising health risks and to allow time for better planning and safety measures in schools.
Parents and students are asked to keep checking official announcements from the School Education Department and Higher Education Department for any updates about reopening. Online learning or home assignments may be arranged in some cases, but no final plan has been shared yet. Teachers have been told to stay ready to resume work when the institutions reopen.
Many families welcomed the move because they were worried about their children’s health during this period. Some parents said they prefer safety over regular classes right now. School owners and private colleges are also following the order and have started informing families through messages and notices.
Punjab has taken similar steps in the past during difficult times to keep students safe. The government promises to give clear updates soon so everyone knows when schools and colleges will open again.
