Balochistan Fixes Price of Iranian Petrol at Rs 280

by Mahnoor Arif

The Balochistan government has fixed the price of Iranian smuggled petrol at Rs280 per litre. This decision aims to stop overcharging and bring order to the local fuel market. Officials announced strict action against anyone selling the fuel above this rate.

The step was taken during a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti on Saturday in Quetta. Authorities made it clear that Iranian petrol can only be sold inside Balochistan. It will not be allowed to be transported or sold outside the province. This rule is meant to prevent the cheap fuel from reaching other parts of Pakistan and causing problems in the official market.

Kalat Deputy Commissioner Munir Ahmed Durrani explained the government’s position. He said the authorities will closely monitor sales and ensure full compliance. No one will be permitted to charge more than Rs280 per litre. Strict legal action will be taken against those who break the rules or try to move the fuel to other areas.

For many years, smuggled Iranian petrol and diesel have been cheaper than official Pakistani fuel. People in the border areas of Balochistan have depended on it for daily use and transport. However, recent events linked to the situation in Iran have caused supply issues and price fluctuations. Some sellers were reportedly charging between Rs300 and Rs360 per litre before the government stepped in.

This new fixed price is expected to give relief to local consumers, especially drivers and transporters who rely on affordable fuel. At the same time, the government wants to balance the needs of the people with proper regulation.

The announcement has been welcomed by many in the province who hope it will bring stability to fuel prices. Officials say they will keep a strong watch to make sure the new rules are followed everywhere in Balochistan.
