Iran Informed Pakistan that They Will Not Participate in Ce@sefire Talks

by Mahnoor Arif

Iran has officially informed Pakistan that it will not participate in any ceasefire talks with the United States at this stage. Tehran conveyed its firm position through diplomatic channels, rejecting a temporary ceasefire proposal and insisting on a permanent end to the conflict instead.

According to Iranian state media IRNA, Tehran sent a 10-point response to the US proposal via Pakistan. The response includes demands such as a complete end to regional conflicts, a protocol for safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz, lifting of sanctions, and reconstruction support. Iran made it clear that it will not reopen the Strait of Hormuz in exchange for a short-term truce and will not accept any deadlines or pressure.

Pakistan has been playing an active role as a mediator between Iran and the US. However, Iran’s latest message shows that current ceasefire efforts have hit a major roadblock. Iranian officials stressed that any agreement must guarantee long-term peace and respect Iran’s sovereignty, rather than serving as a temporary pause.

This development comes as tensions remain high in the region and a deadline set by US President Donald Trump approaches. Iran has repeatedly said it is open to serious dialogue but only on fair and permanent terms.

The situation has raised concerns about further escalation. Pakistan has not issued any official comment yet but continues to support peaceful resolution through dialogue. Diplomatic efforts are expected to continue in the coming days despite the current setback.
