Saudi Arabia is set to produce a major historical film titled Unbroken Sword, based on the life of legendary Muslim military leader Khalid ibn Al Walid and the famous Battle of Yarmouk. The film will be directed by Alik Sakharov, who is widely known for his work on the popular TV series Game of Thrones.

The project is backed by Saudi Arabia and will begin its main activities at PlayMaker Studios, a newly developed film and television hub located in Qiddiya City, near Riyadh. This studio is part of the Kingdom’s wider plan to grow its entertainment and film industry and attract international talent.

Qiddiya City itself is being developed as a large entertainment and tourism center. It will soon host a Six Flags theme park, a Formula One standard racetrack, and the Prince Mohammed bin Salman Stadium, which is expected to be one of the venues for the 2034 FIFA World Cup.

Unbroken Sword is being supported by the General Entertainment Authority (GEA) and Riyadh Season, two key organizations behind Saudi Arabia’s cultural projects. The film is being produced by Sela, a company known for handling large-scale entertainment events.

The movie aims to present the story of Khalid ibn Al Walid with historical depth and cinematic quality. Known as the “Sword of Allah,” Khalid ibn Al Walid holds an important place in Islamic history. The film is expected to introduce his story to global audiences while highlighting Saudi Arabia’s growing role in international filmmaking.
