Govt Announces Public Holiday on April 9 and 10 in Islamabad

by Mahnoor Arif

The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration has announced a two-day local public holiday on Thursday, April 9 and Friday, April 10, 2026. All government offices, private offices, schools, and colleges in Islamabad will remain closed during these two days.

The holiday applies within the revenue limits of the Islamabad Capital Territory. However, essential services will continue to operate normally. These include hospitals, police, Capital Development Authority (CDA), Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI), IESCO, SNGPL, and other emergency and utility services.

The decision was taken due to important diplomatic activities and heightened security and administrative arrangements in the federal capital. Officials have asked the public to complete their urgent work before April 9.

This local holiday is in addition to the regular national holiday calendar. Citizens are advised to plan their travel, medical appointments, and other important tasks accordingly. Banks and markets may also adjust their timings, though confirmation from respective authorities is recommended.

The ICT administration has assured that all necessary measures are in place to maintain law and order and provide essential services without any disruption during the holiday period.
