The Private Educational Institutions Regulatory Authority (PEIRA) has introduced strict new rules for private schools in Islamabad. According to the new regulations, private schools are now allowed to collect only one month’s fee in advance. Charging fees for more than one month or beyond the 12-month academic session has been declared illegal.
PEIRA has launched a major crackdown on unregistered private schools operating without proper approval. Officials warned that such institutions may face immediate sealing and legal action. The authority made it clear that there will be zero tolerance for any practices that harm students’ education and well-being.
“Schools must follow all rules regarding fee collection and registration. We will take strict action against those involved in unlawful fee practices,” said a senior PEIRA official.
These steps aim to protect parents from excessive and unfair fee demands. Many parents have previously complained about schools forcing them to pay several months’ fees in advance, especially at the start of the new academic year. The new policy is expected to bring relief to middle-class families struggling with rising education costs.
PEIRA has asked all parents to report any violations immediately. The authority will continue monitoring private schools to ensure they follow the new fee rules and maintain proper registration.
