Italy Allocates Special Quota for 10,500 Pakistani Workers

by Mahnoor Arif

Italy has given a special quota of 10,500 jobs to Pakistani workers for the next three years. This move shows growing friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

Every year, 3,500 Pakistanis will get the chance to work in Italy. Out of these, 1,500 jobs are for seasonal work in agriculture and tourism, while 2,000 are for non-seasonal roles. Pakistani workers can find jobs in many fields such as healthcare, hospitality, welding, cooking, housekeeping, farming, and ship breaking.

Italy is the first European country to create such a long-term special quota for Pakistan. The plan aims to provide safe and legal ways for Pakistanis to work abroad instead of taking risky illegal routes.

Outgoing Italian Ambassador Marilina Armellin shared this news during the Italian National Day and Republic Day event in Islamabad. She also announced that Italy has issued more than 3,200 student visas to Pakistani students for the 2025-26 academic year.

These steps are strengthening people-to-people ties. More Pakistanis will now get education and work opportunities in Italy. Both countries plan to hold the next Joint Working Group meeting in Islamabad in February 2026 to make the process smoother.

This agreement is good news for Pakistan’s youth looking for better jobs and skills. It also helps Italy fill labour shortages in key sectors. Overall, it marks a new chapter in strong Pakistan-Italy relations.
