A tragic incident has shocked Karachi after Mir Raza Ali, the 25-year-old founder of popular dessert chain WAFFLIX, was found dead days after he was allegedly kidnapped from the city’s PECHS area.
According to police, Raza went missing during the early hours of July 28 after leaving his home. His family said he had told his mother that he would step outside for around 10 minutes, but he never returned. His phone was later switched off, prompting the family to contact emergency services and report his disappearance.
His body was later recovered from bushes near Shadi Qila wedding hall in Gulistan-e-Jauhar Block 1 and shifted to Jinnah Hospital for a post-mortem examination. Police said the body appeared to be one to two days old and had burn marks, which made identification difficult. His father reportedly identified him through his clothes.
Police officials said initial findings suggested that Raza may have been tortured before being shot. Authorities are awaiting the post-mortem report to determine the exact cause of death.
A kidnapping case had already been registered at Ferozabad Police Station following a complaint from Raza’s father. Investigators are now reviewing CCTV footage from the area around where the body was discovered in an effort to identify the suspects and determine the motive behind the killing.
Mir Raza was known as the founder and owner of WAFFLIX, a popular waffle and dessert business in Karachi. His death has sparked grief among friends, colleagues, and members of the city’s business community.
The investigation remains ongoing, with police working to establish the circumstances surrounding the alleged kidnapping and murder and bring those responsible to justice.
