Pakistani-engineered, Japanese-manufactured system clears one of the world’s most demanding grid-connection standards
SkyElectric today announced that its hybrid photovoltaic power conditioning system (PCS), developed by the company’s engineering team in Pakistan, has been certified under Japan’s grid-interconnection protection device scheme (系統連系保護装置等認証) and has received S-JET safety certification. Both certificates are issued by Japan Electrical Safety & Environment Technology Laboratories (JET) and are held by Sky Electric Japan Co., Ltd., the group’s Japanese operating company.
The certification covers power conditioner model SKY-H10-P5K5-JP and system models HS-B10-I55-24J-1 and HS-B20-I55-24J-2, registered under number MD-0087 on 9 July 2026 and valid through 8 July 2031. The certified units are manufactured at the Fukui Plant of Incs Co., Ltd. in Japan.
Japan operates one of the most tightly governed distribution networks in the world, and JET certification is required in practice before a power conditioner can be connected to it. The assessment evaluates the product against Japan’s Grid-interconnection Code (JEAC 9701), the Electrical Appliance and Material Safety Law and applicable JIS standards, across twelve test categories comprising fifty individual test items. Certification is contingent on an initial inspection of the manufacturing plant, followed by annual re-inspection for the full five-year term. S-JET is a separate voluntary certification, also operated by JET, covering product safety and factory quality management.
The certified system is a single-phase 5.5 kW hybrid power conditioner accepting three photovoltaic input strings alongside 9.76 kWh or 19.52 kWh of lithium-ion storage. It supports islanded backup operation during grid outages and includes fault ride-through capability, remote output control and flicker suppression — the functions required for participation in Japan’s virtual power plant and feed-in-premium frameworks.
To the best of the company’s knowledge, this is the first grid-connected hybrid power conditioner engineered by a Pakistani team to obtain JET grid-interconnection certification. A review of JET’s public certification registers identified no earlier certificate holder whose product was engineered in South Asia.
“Japan’s grid-connection requirements are among the most demanding anywhere, and they are not designed to be easy for newcomers,” said Sohaib Asif Sipra, Chief Executive Officer of SkyElectric. “Our engineers in Pakistan designed to that standard from the outset rather than adapting an existing product to it. Independent testing and a factory audit confirm that work, and it sets the engineering baseline for everything we build.”
The certification reflects a deliberately split model: system architecture, power electronics design and control software developed in Pakistan, with volume manufacturing carried out by a Japanese contract manufacturer under JET factory inspection. SkyElectric intends to apply the same engineering standard across its wider product range.
