Pakistan batter Hasan Nawaz created history with a brilliant 96-run innings against India in the Asian Games 2026 men’s cricket final in Nisshin, Japan.
Chasing India’s challenging total of 211 for six, Pakistan lost three early wickets for just 39 runs. Hasan Nawaz then took charge of the chase, producing an aggressive knock of 96 runs from 51 balls, including five fours and seven sixes.
His innings is now the highest individual score by a Pakistani batter against India in T20Is, surpassing Mohammad Rizwan’s previous best of 79 not out. Babar Azam’s 68 not out and Mohammad Rizwan’s 71 also feature among Pakistan’s leading scores against India in the format.
Hasan also shared an important 87-run partnership with Saim Ayub for the fourth wicket, helping Pakistan recover from their difficult start and keep the chase alive.
The 24-year-old continued attacking until the final delivery of Pakistan’s innings. He was dismissed for 96, falling just four runs short of what would have been a memorable century.
Pakistan eventually finished at 192 for six, losing the final by 19 runs as India retained the Asian Games men’s cricket gold medal.
Despite the defeat, Hasan Nawaz’s record-breaking innings became one of the standout individual performances of the Pakistan-India rivalry in T20Is.
