by Hameed

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) recently reported that people in Pakistan attempt to access po**graphic websites around 20 million times each day. To address this, PTA has blocked 844,000 such sites so far. Additionally, it has taken down 180,000 URLs containing blasp**mous content.

To improve safety and regulate online activity, PTA has also started blocking unregistered VPNs, aiming to address security concerns and strengthen online regulations.

The Ministry of Religious Affairs raised concerns over the increasing access to obscene and blasp***mous content, urging PTA to intensify efforts to remove such harmful material. The ministry highlighted the potential negative effects on societal values and ethics if access to this content continues unchecked.

PTA’s actions are part of a broader effort to promote safer internet usage in Pakistan. By blocking certain websites and unregistered VPNs, the authority aims to reduce exposure to content that may harm social values. Both PTA and the Ministry of Religious Affairs are committed to curbing access to these types of content, striving to protect societal norms and promote a healthier digital environment for all users.
