The Punjab government has launched a new cultural project named “Punjab Dharti Rang” to celebrate and promote the rich heritage, traditions, and local arts of the province.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz approved the initiative, which will be included in the upcoming provincial budget. The project will receive around Rs 3 billion over the next three years. The aim is to revive Punjabi culture and make it stronger for future generations.

Under “Punjab Dharti Rang”, the government will form cultural committees in every district. These committees will organise traditional festivals, art exhibitions, music and dance events, and competitions for local artists. The project will also focus on skill development for young artists and artisans so they can earn from their talents.

Officials said the programme will help preserve old traditions like folk music, storytelling, handicrafts, and village fairs. It will also encourage cultural tourism by highlighting Punjab’s history and colourful heritage.

This initiative is part of the broader “Magnificent Punjab” vision to promote tourism and culture. It will give special attention to youth engagement so young people take pride in their roots and stay connected to Punjabi identity.

The government believes “Punjab Dharti Rang” will not only protect cultural treasures but also create new opportunities for artists and boost local economies.
