Thieves stole gold and jewellery worth nearly Rs 200 million from a shop on Zaib-un-Nisa Street in Karachi’s busy Saddar area. The shocking robbery happened in the early hours of Wednesday.
Police said two suspects carefully cut the shop’s locks and entered the store. They took away a heavy locker that contained about 2.5 kilograms of gold and 60 tolas of jewellery. CCTV footage captured the entire incident. It shows the men working for nearly an hour before escaping on a motorcycle with the stolen goods.
The video has gone viral and is now helping police in their investigation. Authorities have launched a big search operation. They have already detained a security guard who is suspected of having links with the thieves.
Saddar is one of Karachi’s main commercial zones with many jewellery shops. This bold heist has left shop owners worried about safety. Police teams are checking more CCTV cameras from nearby areas to identify the suspects. Efforts are underway to recover the valuable items quickly.
