Pakistan is set to face a strong heatwave from June 7 to June 12, 2026. The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has warned that temperatures in many areas may climb as high as 51°C. A high-pressure system in the upper atmosphere is causing this intense hot and dry weather.
Most parts of the country will see temperatures well above normal. Southern and central regions, especially Sindh and southern Punjab, will be hit hardest. Cities and districts like Sukkur, Jacobabad, Larkana, Shikarpur, Dadu, Ghotki, Sibbi, and Turbat may record 48°C to 51°C. Hot conditions are also expected in major cities, including Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad.
The PMD has advised people to take extra care during this extreme weather. Stay indoors as much as possible between 11 am and 4 pm. Drink plenty of water, avoid direct sunlight, and wear light clothes. Farmers, outdoor workers, and the elderly are at higher risk of heatstroke and dehydration.
Authorities urge citizens to look after children and older family members. Keep homes cool, limit physical work in the sun, and watch for signs of heat-related illness. This heatwave may also increase electricity demand and affect water supplies. People should follow official updates from PMD and NDMA for safety.
