Iranian Millitary Orders Closure of Strait of Hormuz to All Vessels After US Att@cks

Iran’s military has announced the full closure of the Strait of Hormuz to all vessels, including oil tankers and commercial ships. This decision comes after fresh US strikes on Iranian targets. Iranian officials warned that any ship trying to pass through the waterway could be targeted.

The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s most important shipping routes. It connects the Persian Gulf to the open sea and carries about 20-30% of global oil and LNG trade. Closing it can cause major problems for energy supplies worldwide.

Iran’s top joint military command and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced on June 11, 2026. They said the closure is in direct response to renewed US airstrikes. Reports mention explosions in parts of southern Iran and near Tehran. Iran claims it hit several targets in response.

This is not the first time Iran has threatened or partially closed the Strait. Earlier in 2026, during the ongoing conflict with the US and Israel, Iran took similar steps. Shipping traffic has already dropped sharply due to high risks and insurance costs.

The move has pushed oil prices higher and raised fears of a bigger economic crisis. Many countries depend on this route for energy. The US has said it will defend freedom of navigation in the area.

Experts warn that a long closure could hurt the global economy. Both sides continue to exchange threats as tensions remain very high. The situation is developing quickly, and world leaders are closely watching for any new developments.
