Pakistan Plans Local Production of Solar Panel Batteries

by Mahnoor Arif

Pakistan is taking important steps to make solar panels and batteries inside the country. This plan will help strengthen renewable energy and reduce heavy dependence on imported products.

Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Industries and Production, Haroon Akhtar Khan, said the government is finalising a new solar policy. The policy will shift Pakistan from just assembling solar panels to full-scale local manufacturing. It will also focus on producing batteries to store solar energy for use at night and during power shortages.

Local production of solar panels and batteries will lower costs for consumers, create new jobs, attract foreign investment, and improve energy security. It will build a complete local value chain, including related components and technology development.

Pakistan faces serious energy challenges, and solar power has become very popular in recent years. However, most equipment is still imported. Making these products locally will save foreign exchange and support the country’s clean energy goals.

The government is also working on lithium-ion and other advanced battery technologies. Officials believe this initiative will boost industrial growth and help ordinary Pakistanis get affordable and reliable solar solutions.
