Ishaq Dar has said that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is receiving so many invitations from countries and international forums that it has become difficult to decide which engagements he should attend. Dar linked the growing number of invitations to Pakistan’s increasing diplomatic engagement and international standing.
Speaking about Pakistan’s foreign policy, the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister said the country is becoming a more active participant in regional and global affairs. He noted that Pakistan is increasingly being invited to important international platforms and is expected to take on key roles in several multilateral organisations.
Dar said Pakistan’s diplomatic activity has increased through its participation in organisations such as the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, Shanghai Cooperation Organisation and Economic Cooperation Organization. He also highlighted Pakistan’s involvement in diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing regional tensions and promoting dialogue.
According to Dar, these developments reflect growing international confidence in Pakistan’s role. He credited the government, Foreign Office and national leadership, including Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, for strengthening the country’s diplomatic engagement.
The foreign minister also pointed to Pakistan’s recent efforts to facilitate dialogue between the United States and Iran during a period of heightened regional tensions. He said Islamabad maintained contact with the relevant parties and worked to support communication and de-escalation.
The growing number of invitations, Dar suggested, demonstrates that Pakistan is being viewed as an increasingly important diplomatic player. For Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, however, the challenge is now choosing which of the many international engagements to attend.
