Ministry Announces Annual Visit Limit for Riyad al-Jannah in Madinah

Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has reportedly introduced a rule limiting visits to Riyaz-ul-Jannah, the sacred area inside the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah, to once every 365 days through the Nusuk application.

Under the reported policy, visitors must wait 365 days before applying for another regular visit permit. Approval for a new permit will depend on eligibility and available booking slots.

Riyaz-ul-Jannah, also known as Al-Rawdah Al-Sharifah, is one of the most revered places in Islam. Located between the Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) pulpit and his chamber, the area attracts millions of Muslims visiting Madinah for Hajj and Umrah.

The permit system is designed to regulate visitor numbers, manage crowd movement, and provide pilgrims with a more organised opportunity to offer prayers in the sacred area.

Visitors generally need to obtain a permit through the Nusuk application. Saudi authorities have also announced an instant-access option for eligible visitors near the Prophet’s Mosque, subject to availability and applicable rules.

Pilgrims are advised to check the latest requirements and booking options through official Saudi platforms before planning their visit.

The reported annual restriction is expected to affect frequent visitors who wish to return to Riyaz-ul-Jannah during multiple trips to Madinah. However, travellers should confirm the current policy and any exceptions directly through Nusuk or the relevant Saudi authorities.
