by Hameed

The federal government has announced a three-day holiday in Islamabad and Rawalpindi from October 14 to 16 due to the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit. According to an official notification from the Cabinet Division, the prime minister has approved these holidays to support the smooth conduct of the 23rd SCO Council of Heads of Government.

The holidays will take place on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, covering the territorial limits of the Islamabad Capital Territory and Rawalpindi district. This decision aims to ensure the summit runs smoothly, as it will bring together key representatives from several countries.

During these three days, educational institutions, government offices, and most other establishments in Islamabad and Rawalpindi will remain closed. The holidays will help facilitate the necessary security and logistical preparations required for the summit, which is expected to include high-level discussions on regional cooperation, development, and diplomatic relations among SCO member countries.

Residents of Islamabad and Rawalpindi are advised to plan ahead as these closures will likely impact daily routines and local activities. The government’s decision is intended to minimize disruptions and ensure the summit is carried out effectively, emphasizing the importance of the event for regional collaboration and development.
